What is "BacktoFrankBlack.com?"
BacktoFrankBlack is a campaign to return the fictional criminal profiler Frank Black, played by Lance Henriksen and created by Chris Carter back. He was last seen in the X-Files episode "Millennium" in 1999 after being the lead character in Chris Carter's award winning series, "Millennium" (1996) that ran for three years. More recently, actor Lance Henriksen and Frank Spotnitz have spoken about returning to the character. For more information on Frank Black, click here.

What was "Millennium?"
Millennium was a TV show by X-Files creator Chris Carter that aired in 1996 for three years. It told the tale of Frank Black, a criminal profiler working for a private consultancy called the Millennium Group. A family man, Frank confronted the horrors of human evil to see beyond the veil of man's deeds to an Evil that lurked beyond. Season one of the show dealt primarily with serial killers who were nurtured by the social anxiety of the then upcoming millennium. By season two, the tone had shifted to a more mythological focus as Frank discovered the religious and controlling nature of the consultancy group he was working for. Season three brought Frank back to the FBI and his attempts to expose the Millennium Group's true nature.
The show was award winning and critically acclaimed. For more information on Millennium, click here.

Why ressurrect a ten year old show?
We are not looking for the show's resurrection, but a continuation of its characters in a new form. We don't believe the show Millennium, as it was, necessarily has a place in today's television, but Frank Black and his supporting characters are strong enough to step beyond the confines of the old show and into a new one. Millennium was largely about the fears of the upcoming millennium - and one could argue that a new show set in the turmoil of the 21st Century would be an appropriate thematic evolution. In essense, we believe Frank Black was a unique character that is due a return in some form - as do his creators. BacktoFrankBlack is about giving the fans a voice.

Chris Carter's X-Files 2 didn't do well, did it? His shows can't be very popular with FOX - why bother?
While box office figures were not great, it certainly doesn't seem to have hindered the X-Files franchise. Remember, it wasn't as if FOX wasn't aware of the strong genre competition when it released X-Files 2. Such competition would be factored in any box office projection.
Fox head Tom Rothman has stated that he’d be up for a third film in the series, and all that it will take for the film to get a green light is commitment from Chris Carter, David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson. Mr Rothman said the following:
"It’s really up to Chris, David, and Gillian......It wasn’t a matter of the money, that was the film that Chris wanted to do. He was determined to do a stand alone film, a film that wasn’t dependent upon the mythology. His interest in making the movie, was in the characters and in their relationship, not the mythology."
X-Files/Millennium producer and writer Frank Spotnitz followed up the comment:
"I was encouraged to read Tom Rothman’s remarks as well. I anticipated the studio would wait until after the release of the DVD to make any decision regarding a third movie, but I will let you know if we end up having any news before then."
The X-Files is far from dead, and while the state of the franchise doesn't necessarily reflect on Millennium, Carter is not as unpopular in Hollywood circles as some on the internet claim.

So who has said what about the return of Frank Black?
When questioned at the William S Paley Television Festival this year, Chris Carter had the following to say about a Millennium Movie:
"We've talked about that over the years," he said. "Lance would love to do it. I don't know if it would ever get done. It's a long shot. It would be fun. I have ideas about how to do it."
Earlier this year, Frank Spotnitz stated the following in an interview on Moviehole.com:
Question: On another note, any chance of a Millennium film in the future?
Spotnitz: It’s funny, Chris and I have done a lot of appearances over the last seven months, and we’re always - always!- asked about a Millennium movie. Funnily enough, there doesn’t seem to be any interest on the part of the studio [Laughs]. It’s something we would definitely be interested in, but it’s going to take a massive appeal by fans to get it up.
Lance Henriksen caused much speculation regarding a possible reprise when an attendee at the Scandinavian SciFi, Game and Film Convention in Sweden stated the following:
"I just came home from meeting Lance Henriksen on a sci-fi convention held in Sweden. Lance Henriksen is one of (if not the) nicest celebrities i've met in my life. He was so cool & down to earth, just like everyone who's met him has said before. ... he said that the Millennium movie WILL happen, THIS year!"

So when did BacktoFrankBlack start?
BacktoFrankBlack started in September 2008 by a collective of fans from www.TIWWA.info. They decided they wished to show public support to Chris, Frank and Lance and create a positive, mature and honest platform for fans to air their support for the return of Frank Black.

So you don't want to see the return of Peter Watts?
The name of the campaign is BacktoFrankBlack, but we would equally love to see the return of Lara Means, Peter Watts, Lucy Butler, Jordan Black, Emma Hollis and all the other great characters. Our call for Frank extends to the related characters of his universe. We felt it was important to create a campaign that was progressive rather than retrospective. We aren't asking for FOX or any other company to turn back the clock and return Millennium, we want to see Frank and company return in a fresh format!

So I've written my letter to FOX - what now?
When I've written my letter, what incentives are there for me to keep following the campaign and visiting your site?
Whilst we are, primarily, a campaign and mindful never to lose sight of our goal we realise we have an unprecedented opportunity to bring Millennium facts and fun to you, the fans, in ways that have not been possible since the time of the show's heyday. We offer a number of exclusives that serve to entertain, inform and more importantly, keep the campaign vibrant and full of fun and facts for our followers. Below are a number of incentives we have unveiled over the course of the campaign.
- INTERVIEWS: One of the first areas we turned our attention to was reaching out to the cast and crew to bring to the fans as much information as we could about Millennium and all its behind the scenes information and gossip. We continue to pursue this area and have been delighted by the response. In our written interviews section you can read exclusive chats with Lance Henriksen, Frank Spotnitz, Kristen Cloke, Stephen E. Miller, Perry J. Lang and many, many more. The support of the cast and crew has been incredible and we thank every individual for their time and generosity.
- PODCAST: The latest addition to our efforts is our free, and fun filled podcast, 'The Millennium Group Sessions'. For years a podcast has been desired by the Millennium fan community and our new service is rightly gaining accolades, support and enthusiastic interaction from the fans. With superb interviews from the cast and crew including Klea Scott, Sarah Jane Redmond, Mark Snow, Frank Spotnitz and of course, Lance Henriksen. Some of the regular features include exclusive competitions, engrossing discussions and lots of madcap capers from our broadcasters, Jim McLean and Troy Foreman, this near weekly treat remains a source of constant news, hot from the campaign press, and is an absolute must for every fan of Millennium and the campaign.
- COMPETITIONS: As mentioned, we have been lucky in securing goodies to give to your the fans, often for little more than a simple email. News of the competitions are available from the podcasts and the blog and we have thus far secured signed DVDs, scripts, books, soundtracks, signed cast autographs and very shortly, exclusives from Klea Scott herself including items that have long since become unavailable and incredibly collectable. Check us out regularly to see what is on offer and be sure to enter to stand a chance of winning.
- MERCHANDISE: Due to the response we received to the stellar comic art, as gracing our intro page, created by Barry Renshaw and due to the demand for a campaign T-Shirt, we now offer an exclusive range of campaign t-shirts that Barry has lovingly emblazoned with some great, licence free nods to the franchise. Very much in vogue, his distressed creations look excellent and are already gaining support and praise. What meagre profit we receive from this venture will be channelled back into the campaign in order to further the scope of our efforts and fund future enterprises.
- MORE BESIDES: With new interviews being arranged on a regular basis, the unveiling of fan videos, the sharing of tattoos and every mad cap scheme from Millennium themed fun posts, paper dolls, fan profiles, video montages and much, much more we are sure you will agree we offer the most interactive, oft updated, info filled Millennium experience in existence. With new Blog posts almost daily and a dedicated team working on all cylinders to keep the content vibrant, we are sure you will agree there is only one place to be. BackToFrankBlack! This is who we are!
